Dr. Martha “Marty” Shafer has been an integral part of the Memorial Beach Veterinary Hospital (MBVH) team since 2004. A graduate of UC Davis, Dr. Marty specialized in zoological medicine, focusing on small animals. After completing her postgraduate internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist in Houston, Texas, she chose beautiful Sonoma County as her home.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Marty is an energetic mother, often seen exploring the outdoors with her partner, their 4 kids and their spirited Whippet, Gon. When she’s not busy with her professional duties or family, she finds relaxation and joy in hiking, practicing yoga, and figure skating.
Dr. Marty is passionate about both the health of her patients and their wellbeing, bringing enthusiasm and expertise to everything she does.
